For the first 50 years of Ye Cronies President's served for as long as its member's wished them to the Club's first five Chairmen served an average term of 9 years - the longest being Mr. John Hamilton who Chaired the Committee for a total of 19 years.

In 1929, the Club agreed to restrict Presidents to a maximum of 2 years in the Chair before handing over to their Vice, a rule that has been maintained ever since.
